A substantial part of the human brain does nothing else then that:

rationalizations, i.e. ascribing reasons that provide explanations

and it does not matter if there is any reason, 

if an explanation is possible, that part of the brain craves for explanations. 

if possible,simple, linear ones

English isn't his first language or he is struggling to type or something else, I don't know He makes some excellent points.

The main point is that the human being craves an explanation.
So, someone in some suit with a nice job title can easily provide
 a readily accepted explanation. Which is why so few of us bother
